SAINT JOHN – With enthusiasm for Saint John’s major junior hockey team at an all-time high, the Sea Dogs are kicking off their season-ticket campaign with a goal of reaching the highest season-ticket holder total in the team’s seven years of existence.
The Saint John Sea Dogs president Wayne Long announced today that the team is targeting a total of 2,700 season tickets, up from a base of 2,528 in the MasterCard Memorial Cup championship season of 2010-2011.
“By becoming the first Maritime team to win a Memorial Cup championship, this team has connected with fans in the Saint John area like never before,” said Long. “We are seeing this enthusiasm translate into new season-ticket sales and we hope the community continues to rally behind the Sea Dogs to help us reach our goal of 2,700 season tickets.”
Training camp is already underway and the launch of the season-ticket campaign coincides with the first exhibition game of the pre-season, a 7 p.m. start against the Moncton Wildcats at the Red Ball Internet Centre. Saint John plays its first of three home exhibition games Saturday at Harbour Station against the Wildcats, beginning at 7 p.m. The Dogs will welcome the Prince Edward Island Rocket to the qplex on Aug. 27 before returning to Harbour Station to face the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Aug. 31. Long said the team hopes to reach the goal of 2,700 tickets in time for opening night Sept. 8 against the Moncton Wildcats.
“Season tickets are the life blood of any major junior team. We have had great support from our fans and we hope that they will continue to make us one of the healthiest franchises in the country,” Long said.
Good seats are still available for traditional season tickets, and the Sea Dogs are once again offering flex packs, which consist of 34 pre-paid ticket vouchers that can be used anytime, in any combination. The Sea Dogs are closing in on 2,300 season-ticket holders, meaning that more than 400 season tickets or flex packages will need to be sold for the team to reach its goal for the upcoming season. Information on Sea Dogs full season, flex pack, and flex pack combo tickets can be obtained by calling the team office at (506) 657-DOGS (3647) or at www.saintjohnseadogs.com.
“Our entire organization is extremely excited about the upcoming season,” says Long. “Thanks to our fans, we reached a new level of excellence in 2010-11 and we hope that hockey fans from throughout southwestern New Brunswick will continue their amazing level of support for the Sea Dogs.”
In addition to saving nearly three dollars per ticket off of walk-up prices, season-ticket holders receive several exciting benefits, including exclusive invitations to a meet-and-greet barbecue and a winter skate, priority access to playoff seats, a limited-edition merchandise item, and a significant discount at the team store. Benefits also include a game-day draw valued at $50 per game, five complimentary tickets valued at $85, and use of the season-ticket holder entrance. Packages range from $301 for youth upper bowl tickets to $493 for adult lower bowl.
